LUCKY'S STORY

Lucky is a young man we met whilst on our 2nd trip to Sri Lanka. He had lost his motorbike rental shop and 12 bikes in the Tsunami. He had not been insured so couldn't replace any of the bikes. Lucky often came to visit us when we went to Hikkaduwa and soon became our interpreter. Because of all the hard work and time he gave to A.R.C we decided to ask our local Motor Cycle Club (Greenman MCC) if they could do a sponsored rally to raise enough to buy Lucky one scooter to start him off in business again. They were only too happy to help and soon raised the £500 needed. On our last visit we purchased the bike and helmets for Lucky  he was overwhelmed by the gift, he now hires the bike out and is making a living again.

Lucky's future plans are to work in Guernsey for a short period to make enough money to take back to Sri Lanka and continue to rebuild his bike hire business. A.R.C would like to thank the Greenman MCC for their support. Read more
