This years Santa Fun Run has been launched and already registrations are going really well. The Run/walk starts sharp at 11am at Pembroke car park for the adults. If children want to do the run/walk with their parents from Pembroke thats fine. The childrens Run/walk starts at 11.15 at Bulwer Avenue opposite BBC Guernsey. If parents want to join their children on this route thats also ok.
We are trying to encourage more teams this year to make this more fun. If you want to decorate a bed or make a float your all welcome to do so. Its not about winning its about FESTIVE FUN if you have a dog and you want them to come along dress them up to.
There will be medals for everyone who completes the Run/walk kindly donated by Maubrook Jewellers Ltd, and goodie bags for the children. Prizes will also be given in both age groups for the most original Santa's kindly donated by Aladdin's Cave, so make sure you decorate your suits and look the part.
Last year all the money raised went towards building a home for a family of seven living 30Kms jungle side in Sri Lanka. I can now say with your generousity, that they are now happily living closer to the shops and schools in their new home, they have their own well and electricity and are living a much more comfortable life. A Big THANK YOU to all who took part in the 2006 Santa Run. Read more on this family

This year all money will go towards our new project in South Africa. We have been asked to help to build an Orphanage for Aids Orphans that are being looked after in the townships by other street children. The idea is to get these children out of the townships and get them living in a safe and secure environment. Also with the help of S. African Dr Gina Shoeman, who is a locum at our own Princess Elizabeth Hospital, these children will be able to get all the treatment they need and hopefully be able to live a much more comfortable and healthier life. This is a big project and will cost a lot of money we have been given an estimate of around £50,000 to build so we will be doing a lot more fund raising over the next few months to try and get this off the ground.

We are also putting some of the funds raised to help this young girl Den Den to get an operation in the Phillippines. She was born on a remote island off of the Phillippines and she was born with severe deformities of her face, and is blind in one eye. She has been kept inside for most of her life as other children called her names and generally were not nice to her. She kindly gave permission for this photo to be taken as we have promised to help. This is one of the first photo's she has ever had taken. Hopefully after the Santa Run and with the help of Shirley Sumpter who has just completed the New York Marathon we will be able to get her operation done before Christmas.
Not forgetting that we are still up and running in Sri Lanka. We now have over 30 sponsored families all sponsored by local Guernsey residents. And some of them still haven't got proper roofs over their heads, so we are still continuing our building projects. With the help of one of the sponsors who organised a Rock Night at the Fermain Tavern last month we are well on the way to building another house for the young family that she is sponsoring. We continue to support the Sri Sugatha Boys Home which we built last year and hopefully we can support them financially over the next year or so. We also support the Baranisoriya Boys home when ever we can, and also a correctional centre for up to 50 teenage male offenders.
As you can see we are kept busy and fundraising is our priorty at the moment. So come on guys get your teams entered. The more money we raise the more we can achieve. Thanks for all your help. We really really appreciate it.
regards
Linda Garnham
